04 Installation
Install it where it fits your setup.
The software itself carries no licence fee under the MIT licence. Running it is still not free: Sovereigncast requires existing hardware, an Umbrel server or a rented VPS.
The saving: When you host your podcast yourself, the external podcast hosting fee goes away — the costs of servers, domains and operations do not.

05 Support
What “free” really costs.
Big platforms may charge nothing upfront, but often take something else instead. Sovereigncast does neither. The software is open source under the MIT licence; only your chosen infrastructure still has operating costs. If it saves you a hosting bill, you can send an optional Lightning tip to sovereigncast@getalby.com.
